gale > Ancient Roots at Panama Rocks Park. These trees are growing on gigantic boulders left from the last ice age in an erupted paleozoic seashore in Panama Rocks Park. Some of the trees in this old growth forest are estimated to be between 200 and 300 years old. Even though the temperature was in the mid-60's today, some of the crevices around these rocks were still filled with snow (May 25, 2008).
